Pelham Honors Recycling Family

One bag of trash and eight bags of recycling.

That’s the amount of material dropped off every other week by AnnMarie Mayer, as estimated by Pelham Recycling Center director Ron Hannon. The Center recently recognized the Mayer family as Pelham’s Recycler’s of the Year for their great contributions in being environmentally conscious.

The Mayer’s began recycling at the demand of daughter Nicole five years ago, when she learned the value of reusing from her Pelham Memorial teachers. Now in sixth grade, Nicole has converted her family into one of the area’s most dedicated recyclers.
