Set your alarm because the Shawsheen Plaza Stop & Shop Grand Opening is happening on Friday, June 24 at 7 a.m. The supermarket chain is honoring the opening with a weekend-long celebration, one that will surely attract familiar. The location is the former home of the Andover Market Basket, which closed in June 2010 after 44 years of business.
Stop & Shop will be offering door prizes and special rewards throughout the weekend. The first 50 customers to arrive on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will each receive a $10 gift card. Those who purchase Stop & Shop or Nature’s Promise brands this weekend will be eligible to win $100 Stop & Shop gift cards, Red Sox tickets or Fenway Park tour passes!
On Sunday, celebrated baker and newly-published author Joanne Chang will be stopping by Stop & Shop. Owner of the famous Boston bakery, Flour, Chang will by signing copies of her new cookbook, “Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston’s Flour Bakery + Café,” for fans and guests alike.
The celebration is expected to be busy so please plan accordingly, especially if you hope to be one of Stop & Shop’s first shoppers.
