The Lowell Summer Music Series, Lowell’s premier concert series, has only just begun and the names are getting bigger. The 2011 season began with rocker Chris Isaak and back-to-back performances by the ever-popular Indigo Girls. Now, concert organizers are turning up the heat with some popular headliners.
On Friday, July 22, improvisational jam band moe. will be taking the stage to bring their energetic, creative style of rock to the sea of self-proclaimed “moe.rons” that will flock to the Lowell venue. Having opened for such iconic acts as The Allman Brothers Band and The Who, moe. are a jam band on a mission, bent on giving you a good time.
On Saturday, July 23, blues prodigy Jonny Lang will bring his unmistakable voice and style to Boarding House Park. A blues virtuoso, Lang released his major label debut a day before his seventeenth birthday back in 1997. Since then, Lang has gone on to become a critically acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning blues artist who’s heartfelt and soulful performances enchant audiences, young and old.
The Lowell Summer Music Series will feature more and more of your favorite artists as we continue to burn through the dog days. The Lowell Folk Festival, a free event to showcase some of the world’s best folk, will be celebrating its twenty-fifth year from July 29 to 31. The weekend-long festival will offer an international food menu, a line-up that spans the globe and craftworks that include doll making, wood craft, ceramics and musical instrument creation.
