Summertime isn’t complete without one last barbecue! Join Leominster residents on Saturday, September 17 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. to enjoy delicious grilled food and help support one of the city’s oldest buildings, the No. 6 School House, which sits at the corner of Pleasant and Wachusett Streets.
The meal will include a half chicken, salad, beverage and dessert – all for just $8 dollars! The No. 6 School House Community Center is home to several events throughout the year, including an annual fall fair, next month’s children’s Halloween party and a special Christmas dinner. Your support will help fund these well-loved activities.
Originally constructed in 1767, The No. 6 School House graduated its final class in 1939. A decade later, Leominster citizens petitioned to use the school house as a community center, which it has operated as for over 60 years. The No. 6 School House Community Center is overseen by a Board of Directors, and the annual Barbecue Fundraiser is the center’s biggest event of the year.
Organizers hope to raise approximately $750 dollars through the event. The money raised will help fund the community center’s utility and insurance bills. Additional funds will go toward renovations and maintenance as well as the numerous community events sponsored throughout the year.
Tickets are limited. To reserve yours, please contact event organizers at 978-534-8873 or 978-534-1525.
