Want to get some exercise this weekend while supporting a good cause? The 4th Annual Tyngsborough 5K Trot Run/Walk in support of the Education Foundation for Tyngsborough will take place this Sunday, November 6 at the Tyngsborough Elementary School, located at 205 Westford Road. In addition to the race, there will be a Community Festival which will include a Holiday Marketplace, a Wellness Fair and delicious food served by local vendors.
The Community Festival will begin at 9 a.m. with a “Free Kids Fun Run” for children 12 and under to take place at 10 a.m. and the main 5K Run/Walk starting at 10:30 a.m. After the storm from last weekend, and the varying temperatures of this past week, the warmer weather predicted for Sunday tied in with the family-friendly 5K, Kids Run and Community Festival are sure to raise spirits and funds for the Education Foundation for Tyngsborough.
The Community Festival’s Holiday Marketplace, also held at the Tyngsborough Elementary School, will provide handcrafted gifts for your holiday shopping as well as an offering of various area business services. The adjacent Wellness Fair will include free health screenings, information about health issues and services and even demonstrations of Zumba and other dance exercises.
The race starts and ends at Tyngsborough Elementary parking lot with plenty to do after. All funds raised from the event will help the Education Foundation for Tyngsborough educational grant-awards programs for classroom technology purchases and scholarships. The event will be held rain or shine.
The entry fee for runners and walkers is $20 in advance or $25 if paid that day. Entry fees can be waived by collecting sponsors. Those who register in advance will receive an attractive t-shirt designed by a local artist and cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners. You can join the event on the Foundation’s Facebook page and be sure to like their page. The race registration form can be found at http://eftyng.org.
