Spring is finally here, and it’s time for a little spring cleaning! Join volunteers and community members for the annual Field of Dreams Spring Clean-Up event on Saturday, April 14 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the park on Geremonty Drive in Salem, NH. Volunteers can choose to stay for the entire morning, or for just a few hours and are asked to supply their own rakes, tarps, trimmers, gloves and other landscaping tools for the clean-up if possible. This is a great way for students to earn valuable community service hours, and all volunteers will be treated to a hearty breakfast, snacks and a full lunch after the clean-up.
The Field of Dreams Park was the idea of a single individual, though an entire community raised funds to build the park on 7.5 acres from the town of Salem. The park includes a volleyball court, a stage and hiking grounds, as well as a playground designed by Robert Leathers with input from children within the community. Today, the park is still funded and maintained primarily by volunteers who dedicate time, services and funds to the upkeep of the community grounds.
