Put on your jogging shoes and suit up for a great cause! The 2012 Iron Run is scheduled for Sunday, May 6 at 9 AM at the Lowell Lodge of Elks at 40 Old Ferry Road in Lowell, MA. This annual 5K run features a flat, scenic course along the Merrimack River. Rain or shine, participants are invited to run, walk, jog or anything in between to raise money for Hereditary Hemochromatosis (HH) research.
The Iron Run is a yearly fundraising event from The Iron Run, Inc., a non-profit organization that hopes to increase public awareness and encourage diagnosis of HH. HH is a disease characterized by extreme pain, bronzing skin, early-onset join pain and more. If diagnosed in the early stages, individuals can manage and treat their disease. However, if caught too late, those who suffer from HH can experience liver disease, heart disease and even diabetes. The Iron Run mission is to prevent this from happening.
Registration for The Iron Run is available now. Pre-register online for just $20, or register the day of the race for $25. All proceeds from the event will benefit HH awareness and research. T-shirts will be supplied for registered participants while supplies last. To learn more about The Iron Run and how to participate, please visit the website.
