J & F Farms 5K Run for NH Future Farmers of America

J & F Farms is hosting a 5K cross country run/walk through the scenic trails and open fields of Derry, NH, as well as a spring open house on Saturday, May 19 from 8:30 AM to 6 PM. All proceeds from the 5K will benefit NH Future Farmers of America (FFA). The FFA is an organization that prepares future generations for careers in agriculture, biotechnology, fuel production and more. After the run, there will be activities such as a raffle and cow-plop bingo. The farm will showcase its all-natural burgers and sausage, farm-fresh ice cream, homegrown plants and more. The open house will include informational sessions with useful tips and information about the local agricultural businesses and organizations such as the FFA.

The FFA was first founded in Virginia in the early 1920s as an organization for boys in agriculture classes. In 1928, after several states had adopted a group like the orginial one in Virginia, the FFA became the national, state and local youth leadership organization that it is today. There are currently 507,753 members in all 50 states along with Puerto Rico and Guam. The members are responsible for raising money for the State Association. The funds received by the NH FFA go toward educational opportunities and scholarships for its members, leadership conferences, and more.

Tickets for the 5K are $15 if registered before May 12, $20 after May 12 and $10 for all students. Registration is required. For any questions about the 5K or the open house, feel free to contact Debbi at 603-434-7086 × 60323 or registeriffa@gmail.com or visit the website of J & F Farms or the website of the FFA.
