We Hiked, we Have Hope but Funds are Still Needed

Last weekend some of our employees took part in the Hike for Hope event facilitated by Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence, MA. Therese Leone, the bank’s Andover branch VP and Branch Manager is a committed board member.

The hike was last weekend. Our hat goes off to the many dedicated volunteers. However the weather cold and rainy so many people couldn’t walk or make it out. Unfortunately there were 1,000 less walkers. This resulted in $100,000 less raised. Help is still needed.

We would like to tell you more about the Hike for Hope. It was initiated in 1999 and is an annual event held in October. The walk begins and ends on the campus of Merrimack College looping through Andover, MA. It is a family-centered event where team leaders and walkers raise funds for a 5-mile pledge walk.

Proceeds from the hike go to Capernaum Place, a transitional housing program that provides the transition from a homeless shelter to a permanent home. Guests of the facility receive life skills and job training, job search assistance, childcare and support from a social worker to take the next step to independent living.

Monies raised from the walk as well as donations offers local families a second chance while providing them a safe and supporting place to live.

If you would like to donateplease click here it is safe and easy. Every little bit counts.
